How to Reheat Biscuits: Chef’s Easy Secret Ensures They Taste Like They’re Fresh Out of the Oven

Storing the biscuits like this keeps them fresh and ready to reheat for 3 months!

A warm and flaky biscuit is hard to beat — and you can get that fresh out of the oven taste even when you reheat them. Reheating biscuits is simple as you can place them in the oven and they’ll be heated all the way through in 5 minutes. You can also reheat the biscuits from frozen if you love to stash away those buttery baked goods for months to come. We tapped a chef for a step-by-step guide on reheating biscuits in the oven without hassle. Keep reading for pointers on how to reheat biscuits and a yummy way to enjoy those treats once they’re fully heated!

The basics of storing leftover biscuits

Heating up those biscuits to flaky perfection starts with storing them properly. The experts at wikiHow.com suggest placing the leftover biscuits into an airtight container, where they’ll stay fresh for 2 days at room temperature and up to 1 week in the fridge. If you want to extend the storage life, you can freeze them by individually wrapping each one in plastic wrap or foil. Then, transfer the biscuits into a large plastic bag, seal and store them in the freezer for 3 months. When you’re ready to enjoy those biscuits again, simply remove your desired amount from the bag and heat them up in the oven.

Why the oven method works best for reheating biscuits

Chef Lazarus Lynch, a two-time winner of the Food Network’s Chopped, swears by using the oven to reheat biscuits. The reason: Your oven provides an even distribution of heat, which allows the inside and outside to warm up thoroughly. Also, it offers plenty of room to reheat several biscuits at a time for brunch or a midday treat. It also takes as little as 5 minutes to reheat biscuits in the oven, so it’s great even if you’re short on time.

How to reheat biscuits in the oven

Here, chef Lynch shares his simple steps to reheat biscuits in the oven so they’re warm and fluffy a second time around.

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. (Bonus: This oven reheating trick gets the appliance hot faster.)
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the biscuits on the tray, leaving enough room between each one for an even flow of heat.
  3. Bake the biscuits for 5 to 7 minutes if room temperature or refrigerated; and 12 to 15 minutes if frozen.
  4. Once the biscuits are fully heated and browned, remove them from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly.
  5. Brush the biscuits with a layer of melted butter before serving.
