This Viral Dubai Chocolate Bar-Inspired Recipe Produces Bite-Sized Treats Full of Sweet Goodness
If you can't get your hands on the viral chocolate bar, this treat offers the same rich and nutty flavors!
Chocolate lovers will love TikTok’s latest dessert craze: the Dubai chocolate bar. It’s a chocolate bar that’s filled with a crunchy pistachio filling. A dessert restaurant in Dubai is known for selling this chocolate bar, but you can make a similar version at home using Medjool dates. This ingredient allows you to whip up bite-sized treats with the flavors of this chocolatey and nutty bar in less time. Here’s a simple recipe for Dubai chocolate bar-filled dates
What is the viral Dubai chocolate bar?
This sweet treat is a chocolate bar that’s filled with pistachio butter and toasted shreds of phyllo dough called kataifi. The sweet and crunchy filling perfectly contrasts with the rich and earthy chocolate.
A dessert shop in Dubai called Fix Dessert Chocolatier is credited with inventing these gooey and nutty bars. Though, it wasn’t until TikTok creator @mariavehera257 posted herself eating one of these chocolate bars that they exploded onto the worldwide dessert scene. Now, you’ll find tons of videos showing how to make these bars right from the comfort of your home.
Easy shortcut to recreate the Dubai chocolate bar at home
Making a chocolate bar from scratch is time-consuming as it involves tempering and cooling the melted cacao until it’s solid. Also, this special chocolate bar needs to be filled with the pistachio and phyllo mixture.
Your best bet for a cheat’s version of this treat is stuffing Medjool dates with the mixture, dipping each one in melted chocolate and allowing them to sit in the fridge. Once the chocolate on the outside is set, the dates can be sprinkled with sea salt before enjoying. While it’s not an actual chocolate bar, this mini treat has all of the sweet and nutty flavors of the viral dessert. Plus, it’s hassle-free to make a big batch to indulge in right away and later on.
A shortcut Dubai chocolate bar recipe
This recipe comes from TikTok creator @melhelkowski and is a breeze to put together. For the filling, you’ll need kataifi — which is readily available at specialty grocers and online. Once you toast up the kataifi and combine it with the pistachio butter, it produces a mixture she says she’d “eat by the spoonful.” Looks like we’ve found our new dessert obsession!

Ingredients:
- 12 pitted Medjool dates
- 1 cup pistachio butter
- 2 Tbs. unsalted butter
- 6 oz. kataifi, slightly cut into smaller strips
- 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
Directions:
- Yield: 3 to 4 servings
- Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Place dates in single layer on sheet. Open each dried fruit slightly to create space for the filling to go in. Set aside.
- Heat pan over medium heat and melt butter. Add kataifi and stir so dough is fully covered in melted butter. Allow to cook until golden brown and crunchy, around eight to 10 minutes. Remove pan from heat and cool slightly. (Note: Watch the pan closely as the dough toasts doesn’t burn.)
- In medium bowl, stir together toasted kataifi with pistachio until well-combined. Using spoon, fill dates with mixture. Set aside.
- Place chocolate chips into microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each one. Once chocolate has melted sightly, take out of microwave and allow to sit to melt any remaining chips before stirring again.
- Carefully dip the filled dates into melted chocolate and place back on baking sheet. Refrigerate chocolate covered-dates at least 1 hour or until chocolate has fully hardened.
- Sprinkle dates with flaky sea salt and enjoy!
- Note: Store the dates in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
