TikTok’s Viral Chickle Chips Are the Ultimate Cheesy, Crispy Snack in 15 Minutes: Here’s the Recipe

People are calling this cheesy pickle fusion one of the best and easiest snacks for a party

You know those moments when TikTok introduces you to something so bizarre, yet so brilliant, that you just have to try it? I felt that way with chickle chips—the ultimate snack mashup you didn’t know you needed. Crispy, golden cheese, a tangy pickle slice and a garlicky parmesan topping in one crunchy bite. I couldn’t resist giving this viral recipe a try, and it turns out, it’s so easy to make in 15 minutes. If you’re ready to impress your friends (or just yourself) with the easiest, cheesiest snack ever, here’s how to make the viral chickle chips.

What are chickle chips?

Chickle chips combines two things many of us already love: cheese and pickles. But this isn’t your average pickle-in-a-blanket situation. The “chickle” part comes from the combination of cheese and pickles, while the “chip” comes from frying these ingredients until they’re crispy perfection. The homemade recipe went viral on TikTok thanks to user @shewillevolve. Watch her original video below, which has 3.3 million views:

You don’t need to worry about running to the grocery store. All you need are two ingredients: pickles and cheese. To finish it off, a sprinkle of garlic parmesan gives these chips a savory kick that’s impossible to resist.

Making chickle chips might be simple, but I found a few tricks that can help you achieve next-level crispiness and flavor. Here’s how to make them perfect every time:

1. Use the right cheese

I recommend using sliced cheddar, gouda or any cheese that melts well and crisps up nicely. Avoid softer or shredded cheeses that might get messy or gooey.

2. Pat your pickles dry

Excess moisture from the pickles can prevent the cheese from crisping up properly. Pat the pickle slices with a paper towel before frying to avoid soggy spots.

3. Keep an eye on the heat

Medium heat is your friend here. Too hot, and your cheese might burn before it crisps. Too low, and it won’t get that satisfying crunch. Make sure your pan is also nonstick.

4. Don’t skimp on the toppings

The garlic parmesan topping is what takes these chips from good to great. Mix garlic powder with freshly grated parmesan for the best flavor, and sprinkle it generously on your chickle chips as soon as they come out of the pan.

Easy chickle chips recipe

The first time I made these chips for a party, they were the first snack to go. They pair perfectly with a bowl of ranch for dipping. Feel free to adjust the ingredients for a larger serving size. Follow this adapted recipe from the TikTok above:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cheddar cheese slices
  • 8 pre-sliced dill pickles
  • Garlic powder
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and other toppings of choice (optional)

Directions:

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8 chips
  1. Cut each cheddar cheese slice into four equal squares. These will be your chips.
  2. In a nonstick pan over medium heat, place your cheese squares with enough room in between to flip. Once slightly bubbling, place pickle slices in the center of each square.
  3. Once the edges of each square start to crisp and darken, flip each chip over. Remove from the pan once all chips are crispy to your liking.
  4. Sprinkle the chips with garlic powder, grated parmesan, salt and other preferred toppings. Serve immediately and enjoy!
