This Simple Air Fryer Hack for Healthy Fried Pickles Makes Them Just as Good as the Real Thing
But without the extra calories.
Fall carnivals are the best for lots of things, but I personally always look forward to fried pickles. They’re crunchy, salty, and deliciously juicy. But they’re also pretty unhealthy. Thankfully, this new air fryer hack makes them easy to make at home — and way healthier!
Why Air Frying Pickles Is a Better Option
I’m a big fan of cooking things in air fryers. It’s just so easy and delicious. That’s why I was so excited when I came across this TikTok hack showing how to make fried pickles in the air fryer that leaves them just as crunchy as the real thing.
This recipe is also healthier than the deep-fried carnival treat as air frying cuts down calories by 70 to 80 percent and has much less fat. It also uses less oil, which is known to cause health problems like high cholesterol and heart issues over time.
How To Make Air Fried Pickles
TikTok user My Nguyen, who posts all sorts of tasty recipes under her account @MyHealthyDish, takes us step-by-step to achieve the perfect results.
Nguyen first cut the pickles lengthwise in four, making them long stems for a juicier bite than the typical thin rounds. You should also pat them dry with a paper towel so the batter sticks to them more easily.

Then you gather your favorite seasonings in a bowl to mix with the flour. This hack uses salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and cumin, but you can use any combination of spices you like most. Combine them in a bowl.
Next grab another bowl and beat one to two eggs, depending on how much you’re making. The third bowl should hold your panko, bread crumbs, or whatever kind of crunch you’re adding to your pickles.
Cover the pickles in the flour, then the eggs, then the flour, and back to the eggs before coating them in the panko or bread crumbs.
Now the air fryer comes in. Place the pickles in the try and cover them lightly in a cooking spray. This is essential to get maximum crunch! Pop them in the air fryer for 8 minutes at 375 degrees.
Voila! The end result should be perfectly crunchy and juicy. Dip them in your favorite kind of sauce to add a bit more flavor and enjoy. Turns our homemade fried pickles can be as good as the real thing!
