This Bar Is Going Viral for Its Reality TV Watch Parties — And We’re Totally Obsessed
Plus, learn about other spots you can catch these exciting watch parties!
Have you ever found yourself in a bar wishing there was something other than a sports game on the television? For reality TV fans, you’re in luck. A bar in Austin, Texas, called Dainty Dillo is going viral for showing reality television the same way bars would typically show sporting events — and it’s all the rage.
In a video shared to Instagram by user @wanderlizz, she displayed all you can find in this exciting establishment. On Mondays, they played The Bachelorette and even had a scoreboard in the bar to track the contestants.
While reality TV can be polarizing, there’s certainly no shortage of fans, and many took to the comments to express their excitement over this establishment choosing to highlight these shows that so many people tune into in such a fun and engaging way.
“Honestly, I like the idea of having bars/clubs for niche interests. I love sports, but I’d equally like to go watch a nature documentary with strangers over a pint as well,” said one Instagram comment. “Whoever came up with this is a business genius,” said another user.
According to the bar’s Facebook, they had been hosting Bachelorette watch parties for the last several weeks on Monday nights, featuring half-off espresso martinis, $7 cocktails and a special snack menu. And reality TV fans are in luck — Dainty Dillo isn’t the only establishment to be hosting events like these.
Are there other bars showing reality TV?
While there is yet to be an establishment that shows exclusively reality TV (as much as we wish there were!), many have jumped on the bandwagon of having watch parties for popular series that have a lot of buzz like The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, The Golden Bachelor, Vanderpump Rules and more.
Brooklyn Magazine reported on a Golden Bachelor watch party that took place in Bushwick’s Syndicated Bar Theater Kitchen, citing the energy to be infectious. “‘There is a sporting event-like quality to reality TV that is heightened when you watch with other people over food and drinks, as opposed to watching at home on a laptop,’” said the bar’s owner, Tim Neill-Chung, per Brooklyn Magazine.
In addition to that, a company called That Reality Bar is behind a series of reality TV pop-up watch parties and events that take place around New York. For example, a few of their upcoming events include a Summer House watch party in the East Village and a pop-culture trivia night in the West Village.
One thing is certain — we hope this trend only continues to blow up for the reality TV fan in all of us!
