Restaurant Rewards Woman Who Has a Little Too Much to Drink

Who hasn’t realized, after impulsively downing that second (or third) alcoholic drink, that maybe you’re really not in the best shape to get behind the wheel. Well, that’s what happened to Paula Grezlak-Shultz at an Original Joe’s restaurant in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. So instead of putting her life and the lives of others in danger, Grezlak-Shultz called an Uber instead.

Her car stayed in the Original Joe’s parking lot.The next day she went to pick it up, worried she was going to get into trouble for leaving it there all night. And sure enough, there was a note on the windshield.

But instead of a reprimand, she found something else. The note diplomatically touched upon the drinks she’d had by saying this: “Just wanted to thank you for leaving your car parked overnight. I’m not sure if you had consumed alcohol at our restaurant or not, but we wanted to thank you for not drinking and driving.”

As a thank-you, the manager gave her a voucher for one-pound’s worth of the restaurant’s chicken wings. Then he signed off by saying, “Life is valuable, have a great weekend.”

Grezlak-Shultz said she’s definitely coming back–not because of the voucher, but by the way this Original Joe’s treats its patrons.

Besides cleaning jewelry, beer can also turn tarnished copper or brass fixtures and pans into shiny ones. Pour some beer onto a cloth, then rub onto the pan. Wait a few minutes, then rinse and buff.
Furniture polish

Yes, it's a furniture polisher too. Rub beer on a cloth, then run it along wooden tables, chairs, and bannisters to make everything shine. Try this technique out on a small patch first.
Indoor plants

A teaspoon or so of flat beer can make your houseplants thrive. Why? The sugars in the beer act as a fertilizer. This works on outdoor plants, too!
Stain remover

Remove fresh carpet stains by pouring beer on them. Let the beer sit, then dab clean water to finish the job. Spot-test first.
Rusted bolt

Need to loosen a rusty bolt? Pour beer on it and wait a few minutes. The carbon dioxide bubbles breaks up the rust, and makes it easier to get the bolt off.
Slug killer

If slugs are destroying plants, pour beer into jars until they're a third full; bury them around the perimeter of the garden so just the rims show. The slugs will drink the beer and drown.

To liven up dull locks, boil beer to get rid of the alcohol (to avoid drying your hair). When it's cooled, use it on freshly shampooed hair instead of conditioner. Rinse thoroughly.
