Get to Know the Cast of Towards Zero—Here’s Where You’ve Seen Them Before
For one of the cast members, he took the role in honor of his late father—learn who!
Grab your tennis rackets, magnifying glasses and jazz shoes, because it’s finally time to get to know the Towards Zero cast. The three-episode mini-series is based on the best-selling Agatha Christie 1944 novel and follows Inspector Leach as he tries to investigate who killed an elderly widow with connections to a thief, a tennis player and more. Read on to learn additional information about the cast and how they fit into the plot.
Anjelica Huston as Lady Tressilian
Anjelica Huston is perhaps best known for her work as Morticia Addams in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993). Aside from that, she was also in Prizzi’s Honor (1985), The Grifters (1990), The Witches (1990), Enemies, A Love Story (1990) and Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998). In Towards Zero, she is expected to play Lady Tressilian, a widow in her 70s.
“[This role is] a rite of passage and a privilege, because [Christie] wrote for women in a way that most writers don’t,” Houston told Radio Times. “Which means that almost a century later, it’s impossible for us to watch these events unfold and not notice how little things have changed.”
Huston is 73, has no children and was married to her husband Robert Graham from 1992 until his death in 2008.
Matthew Rhys as Inspector Leach
Welsh actor Matthew Rhys is all set to star as Inspector Leach in the 2025 miniseries. He previously starred in Backup (1997), Brothers & Sisters (2006 to 2011), The Americans (2013 to 2018), Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018), A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019), Cocaine Bear (2023) and IF (2024).
“I’m not the sharpest tool in the box. When I did The Americans, people would say to me, ‘Do you think you make a good spy?’ And I was like, no,” Rhys told the BBC of his time on Towards Zero. “I don’t think I make a good detective because there were even times when I’d finished the script, and still I went to the director, ‘I don’t quite understand how it happened’ and he’s, like, ‘Oh boy, we’re really dealing with one here’.”
Rhys is 50 years old and has been married to his wife, Keri Russell, since 2014. They have one child together.
Jackie Clune as Mrs. Barrett
Jackie Clune is a 59-year-old actress from Harlow, United Kingdom. She is best known for things like Smack the Pony (1999 to 2002), The Bill (2002 to 2008), Borderline (2016 to 2017), Motherland (2017 to 2022) and Too Close (2021). She is expected to play Mrs. Barrett—Lady Tressilian’s maid—in the show.
Grace Doherty as Sylvia
Grace Doherty is a relatively new actress who has only starred in three filmed projects before booking Towards Zero. They are Casualty (2015 to 2015), Eleanor (2016) and Call the Midwife (2024). Additionally, she’s appeared in several London West End shows.
She is 19 years old.
Jack Farthing as Thomas Royde
Born in 1985, Jack Farthing is a British actor best known for Blandings (2013 to 2014), The ABC Murders (2018), Poldark (2015 to 2019), The Serial Killer’s Wife (2023) and Islands (2025). In the show, he will play Thomas Royde, a gardener who has little say in life.
Khalil Gharbia as Louis Morel
Actor Khalil Gharbia has been in quite a few things prior to getting cast as Louis Morel in Towards Zero. Some highlights include The Night Train (2020), Skam France (2022), The 7 Lives of Lea (2022), Peter von Kant (2022) and The Lost Boys (2023).
He is 26 years old and originally from Paris, France.
Adam Hugill as Mac
Adam Hugill is a 27-year-old actor from London, England. His credits include 1917 (2019), The Watch (2020 to 2021), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) and Sherwood (2022 to 2024). In Towards Zero, he will play Mac, a mysterious and violent valet worker.
Ella Lily Hyland as Audrey Strange
In Towards Zero, Ella Lily Hyland will play Audrey Strange, the 32-year-old ex-wife of Nevile Strange (Oliver Jackson-Cohen). Prior to this, she was in Intruder (2021), Fifteen-Love (2023), Black Doves (2024) and A Thousand Blows (2025).
“The biggest draw for me was Sam (Yates), the director. I really wanted to work with him—I was a big fan of his work. The scripts were also so intriguing, and the character was unlike anything I’d played before,” Hyland told Vingt Sept magazine. “During the audition process, I loved the way Sam gave notes and directed. It felt really exciting, and I wanted to have the full experience of working with him. I didn’t know about the cast until accepting the role, but that was another thrilling aspect. Audrey was such a fun, different character to explore.”
Hyland is 26 years old and originally from Carlow, Ireland.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen as Nevile Strange
Audrey Strange’s ex-husband will be played by none other than Oliver Jackson-Cohen, an actor best-known for things like Lark Rise of Candleford (2008), Dracula (2012 to 2014), Emerald City (2017), The Haunting of Hill House (2018), The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020) and Surface (2022 to 2025).
“My dad was obsessed with [Agatha Christie],” Jackson-Cohen said, per the Mirror. “I bought him the DVD box set of Poirot, and we used to sit and watch them. Sadly, he’s no longer with us, so when the phone call came in to do this, I wanted to do it for him.”
Jackson-Cohen is 38 years old and is from Westminster, London, United Kingdom.
Mimi Keene as Kay Elliot
Mimi Keene is all set to bring Kay Elliot, Neville’s new wife, to life in the mini-series. She was previously in EastEnders (2013 to 2015), Sex Education (2019 to 2023) and After Everything (2023).
“Off the bat, I knew I wanted to be part of an Agatha Christie drama,” the actress told Harper’s Bazaar. “She’s so iconic and beloved; that’s obviously intimidating, but it’s an amazing opportunity to even have the chance to be part of it….I love Kay. She’s a very modern woman for the 1930s. She’s from a criminal family, which she’s not very proud of, so she’s forced herself to push herself to the front. She’s opportunistic in that way.”
Keene is 26 years old and from Redbridge, Ilford, United Kingdom.
Clarke Peters as Frederick Treves
BAFTA award-winning actor Clarke Peters is best known for Outland (1981), Notting Hill (1999), The Wire (2002 to 2008), Treme (2010 to 2013), John Wick (2014), Chance (2016 to 2017), and Da 5 Bloods (2020). In Towards Zero, he is expected to play Frederick Treves, a neighborhood solicitor (lawyer) who likes murder.
Treves is from New York City, New York, and married to Penny Clarke.
Anjana Vasan as Mary Aldin
Rounding out the Towards Zero cast is none other than Anjana Vasan, who was previously in Cinderella (2015), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2016), Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019), Killing Eve (2022) and We Are Lady Parts (2021 to 2024). In the Christie adaptation, she will portray Mary Aldin, a friend of Lady Tressilian’s.
Vasan is 38 years old and from Chennai, India.
