‘Sweet Magnolias’ Renewed for Season 5: Everything We Know About the Upcoming Episode and Drama

You’ve waited long enough and now it is finally official — Sweet Magnolias has officially been renewed for a fifth season and you’re not going to want to miss it!
It’s been almost two and a half months since Season 4 dropped, leaving viewers in a panic about whether it would come back after the cliffhanger they were left on: will Ty (Carson Rowland) and Annie (Anneliese Judge) make their relationship work? Will Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) move to Manhattan for her new job? Will the Magnolias’ long-distance friendship flourish or flounder? All of that will (hopefully) be answered with the upcoming season.
While the show was previously renewed much quicker than two and a half months, the Season 5 renewal came a bit later than expected. The latest season spent only two weeks in Netflix’s global top 10, while the first three seasons remained there for 10 weeks. But fear not, Netflix has recognized the fans’ love of the series and has renewed it.
‘Sweet Magnolias’ takes Manhattan
The “comfort drama” follows the lifelong friendship between Maddie (Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliot) and Helen (Heather Headley), as they deal with personal struggles, relationships and maintaining their friendship. After Maddie is offered an amazing publishing job in New York City, she struggles with whether she should take the opportunity or leave it behind.
When she decides at the end of Season 4 to take the job, it left fans wondering what would happen next for the three best friends.
“We are thrilled to let the Magnolias take Manhattan,” showrunner and executive producer Sheryl J. Anderson shared. “Not only is this adventure huge fun, it’s also an opportunity to explore the facets of their relationships in a new context. While it’s crucial to have true friends in day-to-day life, it’s priceless to have them supporting you when you leap out of your comfort zone.”
When will Season 5 of ‘Sweet Magnolias’ premiere?
Although Season 5 is officially in the works, there is no known release date for the project yet and there may not be for a while. But the season will likely drop sometime in 2026, similar to previous releases.
About ‘Sweet Magnolias’
Based on the book series by Sherryl Woods, Sweet Magnolias has plenty of stories left to tell. Luckily, Season 5 hasn’t been labeled as the show’s final season, so there is hope the cast and crew will be able to share more of their characters in the future.
Along with the three Magnolias, the series stars Jamie Lynn Spears as Noreen, Justin Bruening as Cal, Carson Rowland as Ty, Logan Allen as Kyle, Anneliese Judge as Annie, Brandon Quinn as Ronnie, Dion Johnstone as Erik and Chris Medlin as Isaac.
Similar to previous seasons, the fifth season will consist of 10 new episodes. Showrunner and executive producer Sheryl J. Anderson will be continuing her role, as well as executive producer Dan Paulson. Matt Drake will also serve as executive producer, along with Norman Buckley as co-executive producer. The book series author, Sheryl Woods, is also an executive producer.
