Reese Witherspoon Shares First Look at ‘Legally Blonde’ Prequel—Meet the Cast Playing Elle’s World!
Lexi Minetree takes on Elle Woods in the prequel series—see who’s joining her in the cast!
Finding the right actress to capture the spunk and wit of the iconic young woman, Elle Woods, in the Legally Blonde prequel series, Elle, was certainly no easy task. Back in January, executive producer Reese Witherspoon—who portrayed the character in the original 2001 film and its 2003 follow-up—shared that they had begun the casting process, looking to find their perfect portrayer. In February, we learned that Lexi Minetree snagged the coveted role. Now, thanks to Witherspoon’s company Hello Sunshine, which is producing the series alongside Amazon MGM, we’ve got our first glimpse at Minetree’s young Elle Woods! Here, read about this rising star and the other actors bringing this exciting prequel series to life.
What Is the ‘Legally Blonde’ prequel ‘Elle’ about?
“Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production! Couldn’t be more excited to introduce you all to @leximinetree as Elle Woods,” Witherspoon wrote in the caption of her Instagram post sharing a first look. So far, we know that the series will revolve around Elle Woods’s experience in high school and the formative teenage years that shaped the character we love so much.
“Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do,” said Reese Witherspoon in a press release. “What could be better than that?!” Though the show is only in the early stages of production, we know that it will hit Prime Video exclusively.

Get to know Lexi Minetree as Elle
A recent college graduate, according to Lexi’s LinkedIn, she was working a job in PR and social media before snagging this highly sought-after gig, and though it’s certainly her breakout role, that doesn’t mean she hasn’t been putting in the work on camera for years. The young actress has appeared in things like The Murdaugh Murders (2023), Crowdsource Murder (2024), an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and most recently, My Amish Double Life (2025).

With smaller, lesser-known works lining her resume, this opportunity is one she’s beyond grateful for. “Thank you to my family, friends, and reps who believe in me and my silly lil dreams. Thank you to @amazonmgmstudios , @hellosunshine and everyone involved with this project for trusting me with this iconic role,” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post announcing her casting. “And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to @reesewitherspoon for handing me down Elle Woods. I already love her so so much, I promise she’s in good hands.”
The cast of ‘Elle’: every star joining the series
With Minetree leading the way, you can count on seeing some new and familiar faces helping her bring this story to life. Elle’s mom will be portrayed by June Diane Raphael, known for her work in Grace & Frankie, and we’re excited to see her bring the character to life alongside Tom Everett Scott, who will be playing Elle’s father.
As for Elle’s peers, Chandler Kinney will play Kimberly, an upperclassman who isn’t too fond of the show’s blonde namesake. Jacob Moskovitz will play Miles, a student who finds himself crushing on Elle and Gabrielle Policano will play Liz, a character that couldn’t be more different than Elle. Stay tuned for more info as production continues!
