Everything We Know About ‘Happy Gilmore 2’—Adam Sandler Returns With Some New Famous Faces!
Happy is back in this Netflix sequel coming this summer!
In 1996, Adam Sandler originated the iconic role of Happy Gilmore, a washed-up hockey player who sets his dreams of a career on the ice aside to pursue something entirely different: golf. His unorthodox approach, typical Sandler delivery and the talented supporting cast that joined him on the screen have made this film a fan-favorite, and with a sequel on the way, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for this quirky character we first got to know almost 30 years ago. Here, everything to know about Happy Gilmore 2.
What happened in the first ‘Happy Gilmore’ movie?
In the first Happy Gilmore movie, Sandler stars as the title character, a hockey player who finds himself in a tight spot when he learns that his beloved grandmother owes over $250,000 to the IRS, as she hasn’t paid her taxes in several years. With 90 days to come up with the money or face losing her house, Happy must come up with a plan to raise a large sum of money in a short period of time. When he discovers his hockey skills lend themself well to golf, he enters a tournament and shakes up the sport with his out-of-the-box, lax approach to a more rigid game of specific rules and regulations.

While on this adventure of saving his mother’s home with his golf game, he teams up with a former golf star played by Carl Weathers and a pretty PR professional played by Julie Bowen who helps Happy with his image and composure to defeat his biggest nemesis in the game, Shooter McGavin.
What will ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ be about?
While not much is known about the plot of the sequel film, in a recently released trailer, Happy looks to be making his way back into the sport, though his age in comparison to many of the hot-shots of today’s game leaves him questioning how his skills hold up and in need of a new approach.
Who will be in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’?
This time around, fans can expect to see a star-studded cast in the lineup for this film. In addition to returning cast members like Adam Sandler, Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald, famous faces like Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, more commonly known as Bad Bunny, will also play an important role in the film: Happy’s caddy. Additional famous faces in the cast include none other than NFL superstar Travis Kelce and Ethan Cutkosky, known for his role of Carl in Shameless.
While these famous faces are exciting additions to the cast, golf fans will rejoice at the fact that a handful of famous pro golfers will also be making appearances in this sequel. Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Paige Spiranac and Will Zalatoris will join this cast, making it an exciting watch for everyone!
“There are a ton of super secret guest stars,” Julie Bowen, who plays Virginia, told FIRST for Women back in October. “Every day that I get to work, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, you just won a Grammy. What are you doing here?’ ‘You’re a Super Bowl winner. What are you doing here?’ Sometimes I get a little starstruck.”
And that’s not all! Ben Stiller will appear in the film, as well as Eminem and Margaret Qualley, in addition to Sandler’s two daughters, Sunny and Sadie.
