When Grosse Pointe Garden Society aired on NBC earlier this year, TV viewers everywhere were enthralled by its murder mystery plot, dual timeline POVs and captivating cast. However, since the show only airs once a week, there have been several cliffhangers, leaving people needing to know what happened next. Not this week, though, because First for Women has an exclusive first look at Sunday’s episode, “Force of Nature,” showcasing just how difficult life is going to get for Catherine (Aja Naomi King). And trust us when we say you haven’t seen anything yet.

FIRST’s exclusive look at ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ episode 4

What is ‘Gross Pointe Garden Society’ about?

Grosse Pointe Garden Society follows four Michigan-based garden club members who find themselves mixed up in a murder and have no idea what to do next. So sorry it is actually, “The cast includes Melissa Fumero, Aja Naomi King, Ben Rappaport, AnnaSophia Robb, Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis and Felix Wolfe, and somehow every single one of them seems to have some shocking secret. Told in a dual-timeline POV, the show is perfect for fans of fun mysteries and found family.

In episode 4 specifically—which airs Sunday, March 16 at 10/9c—Alice (Robb) hopes to reignite the spark between her and her husband Doug (Hodge), and decides to turn to her fellow garden club member Brett (Rappaport) for help. Elsewhere, Birdie (Fumero) tries to keep the club’s plants from getting stolen and the murder victim—whom they call Quiche—finally has their identity revealed.

“I think this whole theme of: A garden is beautiful, and there’s all these lush, gorgeous flowers, but under that is dirt, rot, a kind of ugliness—and that’s sort of the show,” Fumero said in a press junket earlier this year. “You know, people that put on these sort of personas or are presenting a certain version of themselves to society or to their spouses, and it’s not the whole story. It’s not everything that’s going on, and that gets uncovered more and more as the season goes along.”

Does the cast of ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ know how to garden?

Since the show is all about gardening, a big question for viewers is, “Can the cast actually garden?” Well, it turns out that they are learning, but according to Robb, the metaphor of watching something grow is just as important to them when it comes to creating the show.

“It’s honestly a really good lesson in seeing what plants do thrive,” the actress said “We’ll be filming a scene—we jump around in time a lot, so there’ll be one episode where the garden is thriving, and then it has to be winter, and so they have to remove all of the plants and then put them back in.”

King also added to that, saying that a large part of their flower power came from their crew, detailing that “Our garden department—they’re amazing because the temperatures we’ve gotten in Atlanta have been so brutally cold.”

Will there be a second season of ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’?

As of now, there is no news of whether Grosse Pointe Garden Society will return for a second season. Currently, there are only 13 episodes planned for season 1, but that doesn’t mean NBC won’t bring the gardening gang back for more cozy and fun murder mysteries.
