‘E.T.’ Cast Reunites to Promote Drew Barrymore’s Makeup Line — Their Support for Their ‘Little Sister’ Is So Sweet

The reunion we've all been waiting for.

It’s a nostalgic spooky season! This week, Drew Barrymore reunited with the cast of E.T. to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Steven Spielberg sci-fi classic.

Barrymore posted a picture on her Instagram account of herself surrounded by her on-screen family: Henry Thomas (who played Elliot), Robert MacNaughton (Michael), and Dee Wallace (Mary). In the snapshot, each cast member holds a special edition E.T. eyeshadow palette, which was just launched by Barrymore’s cosmetic brand, Flower Beauty.

“This is how I felt when I stood next to my E.T. family while we all held the @flowerbeauty X E.T. Eyeshadow Palette sold exclusively at @ultabeauty right now!” Barrymore wrote in the caption.

Though E.T. already reached its 40th anniversary on June 11, October was the perfect time to promote a Halloween-themed makeup palette. And of course, we can’t help but reminisce on this definitive ’80s film and how cute Barrymore was as Gertie.

The highest grossing film in 1982 and the most successful movie in cinematic history until 1993 (when another Spielberg classic, Jurassic Park, was released), E.T. put 6-year-old Barrymore on the map. Her adorable toothless grin and earnest performance won over viewers everywhere, starting with her mentor Spielberg.

“This little blonde hurricane walked into an audition in my office and took us by storm, and soon took the entire world by storm,” Spielberg told Barrymore in a recent interview on The Drew Barrymore Show. “That was you then, and that is you today … You’ve made me so proud so consistently for — I don’t want to say so many decades, but come on, let’s face it. It’s been so many decades!”

Barrymore didn’t attend a 40th anniversary event for E.T. earlier this year (she and her on-screen brother, Thomas, were expected to join Spielberg at the event but pulled out last minute). So, when Barrymore posted the reunion photo this week, fans were ecstatic to finally see the cast together, supporting their little sister.

“The reunion we’ve all waited for ❤️❤️” one user commented. “This brings warmth to my heart ❤️” another added. “OMG we need a sequel,” a third chimed in. While a sequel isn’t likely, we can always cozy up on the couch with a hot chocolate and watch this otherworldly classic again.
