Thoughts on Younger: “I do feel like it had this masterful way of staying ahead, and a lot happened during the course of the show,” Foster explained. “They really incorporated a lot of what was happening into the story lines, which was cool.”
Hilary Duff as Kelsey Peters
Born: September 28, 1987, Houston, Texas
Best Known For: Lizzie McGuire (2001-2004), The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003), A Cinderella Story (2003), Raise Your Voice (2004) and How I Met Your Father (2022-2023). Duff is also well-known for her career in pop music, having released such songs as “Come Clean,” “Wake Up” and “Sparks.”
Thoughts on Younger: “She’s [Kelsey] definitely a little egotistical and it’s a key thing that drives her, but she doesn’t ever do it to hurt other people,” Duff explains of her character. “She’s very conscious of other people’s feelings and what’s fair. She’s a fair fighter… She’s a millennial and she’s ambitious and she wants to own her own company, and that’s the way it should work now. Everyone’s fighting for not working for ‘the man’ and creating their own success.”
Nico Tortorella as Josh
Born: July 30, 1988, Wilmette, Illinois
Best Known For: The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020-2021) and City on Fire (2023)
Thoughts on Younger: “All I knew [about the part] is that he [Josh] was a tattoo artist who owned his own parlor,” Tortorella said. “That was it. But I knew that it was Darren Star [producing the show]. I knew it was Hilary Duff. I knew it was Sutton Foster. I knew it was Debi Mazar. It was a no-brainer—this is a project I want to be a part of.”
Peter Hermann as Charles Brooks

Thoughts on Younger: “This show is so fundamentally optimistic and so unabashedly positive, and that’s a respite from the way that we spend our days,” Hermann says. “There’s something very winning about that. It’s not a show that’s naive in any way. It’s not a show that pulls its punches. It’s plenty sarcastic. It’s got all the bite that you want, but it’s a show that is optimistic about human beings and the friendships between them.”
Miriam Shor as Diana Trout

Best Known For: Beethoven’s 2nd (1993), Empire Records (1995), The Insider (1999) and She’s Funny That Way (2014)
Thoughts on Younger: “When I first came in to meet with Darren [Star], I was coming in to read for Miriam Shor’s role, Diana,” Mazar said. “They said, ‘You know what, scratch that, come in for Maggie.’ I was really excited because I don’t often get to be the girl with the big heart, the friend, and this was an opportunity to be a little bit different.”
Molly Kate Bernard as Lauren Heller
Born: April 10, 1988, Brooklyn, New York

Thoughts on Younger: “She is so confident, and she so unabashedly and unconditionally loves herself, which is something that took me a long time to come around to,” Molly Bernard explained. “I signed on for the role seven years ago when I was in my early 20s and now I’m in my early 30s, so I’ve learned a lot from her. Now, I feel like we’re closer than ever.”
