‘A Family Affair’ Brings Nicole Kidman to the Netflix Screen! Everything to Know About the Film

The star-studded cast will make for a great watch

If you’re in search of your next Netflix watch, you’re in luck: A Family Affair was just released on the platform and with its star-studded cast, it is the perfect weekend watch. Catch up on the full details of the newest Netflix flick.

What is ‘A Family Affair’ about?

A young woman works as an assistant for a high maintenance movie star who doesn’t take her seriously. But now she has to grapple with even more complications after finding out her boss is dating her mother.

This fun storyline has a bit of role reversal, where the daughter becomes the disapproving parent, and the mother portrays the teen sneaking around behind her daughter’s back.

Starring Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron and Joey King, A Family Affair is yet another film that dives into the older woman-younger man type of relationship, but keeps it family-friendly. Kidman portrays the mother, Brooke Harwood, to King’s character, Zara. Efron portrays the movie star boss, Chris Cole.

A number of the actors have been a part of the Netflix world before, with King starring in the trilogy of The Kissing Booth (2018), while Efron starred in the crime/thriller, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019). Kidman’s involvement in the platform’s project takes her streaming game to the next level.

What the cast of ‘A Family Affair’ has said about working together

Each member of the cast has shared their love for each other throughout press and beyond. King explained that getting to work with Kidman has been “iconic.” She also shared, “It’s truly one of those moments where you have to remind yourself that it’s actually your life and you’re getting to work with this person, and somehow they’re even more wonderful than you could imagine.”

Efron has also shared his love for Kidman upon joining the cast. “I was still a bit apprehensive but reuniting with Nicole is always so great and as talented as she as an actress, she is equally kind, caring and wonderful to spend time with.”

Kidman, who is an Academy Award winner and a six-time Golden Globe winner, has been enjoying her experience working with Efron and King as well. “There was a lot of sitting around and talking and a lot of easy camaraderie, which is a nice way to make a film. There wasn’t so much stress, which is kind of nice, I have to say, because so many of them are very stressful.”

While having stars Efron and King make this project a good one, Kidman adds another layer to this film. The award-winning actress is famously known for her well-renowned career and having her as a part of the cast makes the film all worth the while.

This is also not the first time Kidman and Efron have worked together: the two starred opposite each other in the 2012 film The Paperboy. Both actors are fond of each other as Efron explained if one of them was joining the cast, the other would as well.

“I think Nicole knows that of course if she’s in, I’m in, but I think she called me and was like, ‘Are you in? Because then I’m in,’ and I was like, very flattered. I was blown away.”

The rapport between cast mates of ‘A Family Affair’

It seems that aside from the relationship between Efron and Kidman there has been a lot of love between all of the castmates. King shared, “One of the best parts was Nicole and Zac stayed, even when the camera wasn’t on them, to watch me and support me. … It was really cute.”

King’s castmates are equally as adoring towards the actress. Efron shared that he and Nicole were “so blown away” by King’s talent and commitment to perfection. A Family Affair is currently available to stream on Netflix.
