Now that summer is right around the corner, soaking up the sun is on everyone’s weekend to-do list. And who doesn’t want to read some uplifting content while at the beach or relaxing outside? Here are three stories that will give you sunny summer vibes to last the whole weekend long.
1. Military Dad Reunites With His Toddler Son Who Shows Off a New Skill
Every parent wants to be present for their child’s developmental milestones, and a military dad recently got that opportunity.
The Army captain reunited with his family after completing a training mission in California. In the clip below, his 14-month old son Waylon can be seen going up to greet him — displaying his newfound ability to walk to his dad for the very first time!
2. Prince Louis Steals the Show During Platinum Jubilee Trooping the Colour Ceremony
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations are in full swing, and clips of the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony have made their rounds online.
Particularly popular is Prince Louis’ dramatic reaction to loud fighter jets passing over Buckingham Palace while he stood on the balcony alongside other senior royal family members.

The young royal sported his father Prince William’s sailor suit that he wore to the Trooping the Colour in 1985.

3. High School Graduate Provides Sporting Equipment To a School Affected by Hurricane Dorian
The efforts to rebuild and restore areas affected by Hurricane Dorian, including The Bahamas, are still ongoing nearly three years after the storm. James Kastner (a recent high school graduate from Long Island) decided to help out with those rebuilding efforts by donating more than 650 pounds of sporting equipment to All Hands and Hearts (AHAH).
The non-profit organization’s mission is to help people affected by natural disasters. This past April, AHAH completed their second phase of home and school reconstruction in The Bahamas.
Kastner’s mom, Elizabeth, revealed in an email that he immediately wanted to help after learning about the AHAH’s initiatives for rebuilding homes and schools in the area. “When he spoke with program leaders from AHAH, they said they could use any sporting equipment they could get. Right after that, James got to work,” she said.
Kastner reached out to members of his community — including family, friends, churches, and his Boy Scout Troop — for sporting equipment donations. “People would leave stuff on the doorstep,” he said. “They even gave us gift cards to purchase more equipment. We still have donations coming in.”
The organization notes how Kastner’s generosity will greatly benefit those in affected areas of The Bahamas. “Now, thanks to James and those who donated, these children have new sporting equipment to go with their new school and play areas,” said Leazona Bethell, corporate relations manager for AHAH.
