Dearest gentle reader, while attending a Bridgerton ball may seem like a dream come true., we regret to inform you that this was not the case for the attendees in Michigan. Fans of the beloved Netflix show were extremely disappointed after attending what was supposed to be an all-out Bridgerton experience in Detroit. The event, – billed as “stepping into the enchanting world of the Regency era,” cost hundreds of dollars per ticket, but partygoers found a lack of food, entertainment and decor. Read on to find out why attendees are calling the latest Bridgerton ball a scam.

The Detroit Bridgerton Ball is no diamond of the season

Fans arrived in their finest Regency attire, expecting a sophisticated evening. Instead, the Bridgerton ball in Detroit fell short of expectations. Instead, it was a disorganized, lackluster event where many guests were left bored, sitting on the floor watching vendors sell Kit Kats and a stripper who was hired as entertainment. Ultimately, fans compare it to the chaotic Willy Wonka event in Glasgow earlier this year.

The ball was held on September 22 at the Harmonie Club in Detroit, and it was not a Netflix official event. It was initially supposed to be in August, but organizers Uncle and Me LLC rescheduled and switched to a larger venue to “comfortably accommodate all attendees and more.” Ticket prices started at $150 and went up to $1,000. Many people who went spent between $300 and $400.

“The way that it was described was this was going to be a Bridgerton evening,” attendee Amanda Sue Mathis told local ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV. “We were gonna have classical music, good dinner. There was gonna be a play and they were gonna pick Diamond of the season. They were gonna give away all of these prizes and we went in and it was completely empty in there.”

Other fans were disappointed by the Bridgerton event

Many eventgoers took to social media to share their frustrations regarding the ball. “My family and I just left the Detroit Bridgerton Ball,” wrote one user on Reddit, who also shared images from the event. “ It was absolutely HORRENDOUS. There was nowhere to sit. Although the venue was nice, the decor was sparse and extremely tacky. It wasn’t even Bridgerton themed! We spent $400 on tickets for a complete b*s experience!”

One user on X paid $300 for her ticket and could not attend, but she shared a thread of photos detailing the chaos and confusion. She highlighted the lack of food, entertainment and Bridgerton-esque decorations.  In addition to the stripper, there was only one violinist at the event.

“Besides the lackluster event itself, they promised a cash prize to the best dressed (didn’t happen), that they’d choose a diamond of the season like they do in the show/other bridgerton inspired balls (didn’t happen), and had an itinerary with contradicting information,” she wrote in the thread.

Uncle and Me LLC released a statement about the ‘Bridgerton’ event

Fans are hoping for a refund as the event didn’t meet the promised expectations. Two days after the event, however, Uncle N Me LLC released a statement to WXYZ.

“We understand that not everyone had the experience they hoped for at our most recent event Sunday night at the Harmonie Club, and for that, we sincerely apologize. Our intention was to provide a magical evening, but we recognize that organizational challenges affected the enjoyment of some guests. We take full responsibility and accountability for these shortcomings. Please know that we are working diligently to address all concerns to ensure that all guests have the enjoyable experience they deserve.… We are committed to doing everything in our power to make this right.”
