Tia Mowry Uses This Strange (And Totally Free) Technique For Flawless Skin
It’s hard to believe more than 20 years have passed since Tia Mowry starred on Sister, Sister with her twin, Tamara — especially when you take one look at her flawless skin.
Apparently, the 42-year-old doesn’t rely on expensive beauty products or treatments. In fact, we all already have Mowry’s secret weapon sitting in our freezer: ice cubes.
She spilled the frigid skincare tip earlier this year in a video for Marie Claire when asked about the craziest beauty treatment she’s tried. “I don’t know if I would call this weird, but it’s pretty much out of the box,” Mowry explained. “Basically what I like to do is, I like to take an ice cube and I’ll just roll it around on my skin and on my face until it melts. It just makes my skin just really nice and plump, and it just closes up the pores and it’s nice and tight.”
Mowry adds that you can “go deeper” and give your skin an extra boost of antioxidants by freezing green tea instead of water for this trick. (Psst: Tan France from Queer Eye is also a big fan of adding this tea to his skincare routine!)
An icy face massage isn’t the only thing that keeps Mowry’s skin glowing, though. In fact, she spends the video applying a mask, Clinique’s City Block Purifying Charcoal Clay Mask + Scrub (Buy at Sephora, $30). The actress also highlights how important it is to support your skin from the inside out with nutritional boosts. She’s a big fan of her go-to supplement, Anser’s High Potency Biotin & Coconut Water Powder (Buy on Amazon, $29.99), which she says helps to keep her skin hydrated.
Take a look at the video for more tips from Mowry:
If you want to give her ice trick a try, be sure to test it out on a patch of skin first. Everyone is different and you don’t want the cold temperature to do more damage than good. If the frozen cubes are a bit too harsh, you can also try cooling down a face roller in your fridge to rub across your skin instead.
Either way, we’re happy to chill our face down if it gives us even half the glow Mowry’s got!
