These Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes From ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Will Remind You of Just How Wonderful Robin Williams Was
Robin Williams played a lot of roles over the course of his long acting career, but surely one of the most beloved was his turn as Mrs. Doubtfire, the funny housekeeper who could “hip-hop, be-bop, [and] dance till ya drop.”
Now someone has uploaded some scenes from the 1993 movie that were left on the cutting room floor–probably because they are super-intense.
Grab some tissues for the scene where Williams and Lisa Jakub, the actress who played Lydia, have a heart-to-heart about what makes a good dad. When Williams gets tears in his eye as he explains what being a father means, you’ll weep, too.
In another scene, Daniel and Miranda have an argument while poor Lydia tries to compete in a spelling bee. The three kids’ expressions say it all.
In this last scene, Daniel has been unmasked as Mrs. Doubtfire–and Miranda is steaming. Everyone is giving a pitch-perfect performance–and an honest look at how devastating it can be to watch your parents fight.
We miss you, Robin Williams).
