Who can forget Howard Wolowitz from The Big Bang Theory? Portrayed by actor Simon Helberg, the fictional character was a crucial member of the crew at the helm of this series. An accomplished aerospace engineer, his signature bowl cut, knowledge of countless languages and vibrant personality made him an important character in the series. This laugh-out-loud sitcom aired from 2007 to 2019, and since the show wrapped up, Howard’s portrayer is nearly unrecognizable—well, at least when compared to his on-screen persona we became familiar with for over a decade! Here, see what he looks like now and learn about what Simon Helberg has been up to!

On April 9, the 44-year-old actor stepped out at the AMC Networks 2025 Upfront event in New York, and his new look was a far cry from his sitcom appearance he became known for over the years! Sporting a blue blazer with an almost denim look to it over a shirt and tie, Helberg certainly had a swagger about him! Whether it was his long locks or salt-and-pepper beard, it was almost hard to imagine him as Howard Wolowitz!

What has Simon Helberg said about his time on ‘The Big Bang Theory’?

It’s hard to imagine ever having something that tells you where you’ll be in years to come,” Helberg told Collider back in 2014 while the show was still running and had just been picked up for a few more seasons. “It’s an incredibly rare thing to be a part of a show that has such an unbelievable following and is received so well, and has a network and studio that has such confidence in it. It’s not lost on me, how unusual that is, these days, especially.”

As for whether or not we’ll see Howard’s story continue, Simon Helberg has confirmed that he doesn’t foresee a spinoff in his future. No, which is good,” he told Newsweek in 2022. “I’m happy everyone had the wits about them not to try to make more of me on television. Young Howard, Old Howard, Dead Howard, You know, Undead, whatever…Undead Howard, could have been a good one,” the actor joked.
