Harry Potter star Rupert Grint is officially a father of two! On Monday, April 28, the actor shared that he and his longtime partner, Georgia Groome, had officially welcomed their daughter Goldie.

“‘Secret Child Slightly Revealed’ Introducing Goldie G. Grint,” the caption of Grint’s Instagram announcement read. “10/10 baby (so far).”

To celebrate this joyous news, we’re looking back at the couple’s relationship, including details on when they met and if they are married.

A look at Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome’s love story

Grint, 36, and Groome, 33,  have been together since 2011—the same year Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 came out— and to this day it is not clear how they met or how long they had known each other before they began dating.

We’re just best friends,” Grint told Glamour in 2021. “We’re kind of the same person; we think the same way. That’s always made it work—that’s why it’s lasted. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but it works and it’s great.”

Currently, it is believed that the two aren’t married. They also do not have any public photos together on carpets or social media because, according to the actor, they prefer to keep their private lives private.

“Ultimately, I think it just doesn’t go with my personality,” the actor told Jimmy Fallon why he chose to avoid social media in 2022. “I’m quite a shy person, and the thought of sharing my life just didn’t seem like it would really fit.”

Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome’s parenting journey

Grint and Groome became parents in May 2022, when they welcomed their daughter Wednesday. That announcement also served as his Instagram debut.

“Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram,” he wrote. “Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint.”

Since then, the pair has remained rather tight-lipped about their parenting journey, but in the same Glamour interview, Grint did say that he feels “very comfortable being a dad. I am still kind of coming to terms with what being a dad is, but I’m loving it. I’m absolutely loving it.”

“I feel like I’ve changed as a person for sure. It kind of happened overnight, lifestyle-wise. I stopped smoking straight away. I’ve started sleeping so much better—I used to be a horrific insomniac, now I’m sleeping. It’s interesting, experiencing it all during a pandemic. I think it’s made the whole experience even more intense and insular,” he continued. “It’s just been us, working it out in a house. I feel a lot more—I don’t know, weirdly relaxed. It’s been a very calming process for me. Obviously, there are days when she is FULL on. But there’s something really nice about the routine. It’s got me in a good place, I think.”

He also shared that if Wednesday asked, he would let her take on a role as big as Ron Weasley in Harry Potter.

“When I did it, my family didn’t really know what that meant, the kind of sacrifices you do make, and the consequences it has on your life. No one really knew the scale at which the films would reach. You do sacrifice a lot. Your anonymity is something you really do take for granted, and I wouldn’t want her to give that up lightly,” he continued. “But I think I would, yeah—I had a great experience, and I have no regrets. I would want her to do what she wants, but I think I’d be a real stage mum.”

Congratulations, Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome!
