Prince Harry Is Celebrating Two Big Milestones Today
Prince Harry’s had quite a busy and exciting day today! He’s celebrating both his 37th birthday as well as his inclusion on the list of TIME’s 2021 list of the Most Influential People.
As a refresher, Harry was born on September 15, 1984 to Prince Charles and Princess Diana, known then as the Prince and Princess of Wales. He’s now married to former American actress Meghan Markle, and the California-based duo has two kids, two-year-old Archie and three-month-old Lilibet, who’s called Lili for short.
Despite various rifts between Harry and several members of the Royal Family over the last few years, they put their differences aside to wish him a happy birthday. The queen’s official account posted a sweet photo collage of the father of two, as did his own dad Charles and step-mother Camilla.

His brother William and sister-in-law Kate also joined in on social media around the same time to send their well-wishes.

On top of his birthday celebrations, Harry and Markle were also featured on one of the covers of TIME’s Most Influential People of 2021 issue, spotlighting their humanitarian work both as individuals and as a couple. Several other high-profile people from the list, including Olympic gymnast Simone Biles and actress Kate Winslet, also have their own covers. Chef and World Central Kitchen founder José Andrés wrote the blurb about the pair’s philanthropic efforts, saying, “There’s a famous TV interview of Harry, the Duke of Sussex, when he was an Apache helicopter gunner a few years ago. He’s sitting close to an airfield in Afghanistan, commenting on some royal news, when there’s a bang and a group of soldiers scramble behind him. In one swift motion, he stands up, rips off his microphone and runs toward the action.”
"In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the duke and duchess have compassion for the people they don’t know. They don’t just opine. They run toward the struggle," writes @chefjoseandres #TIME100 https://t.co/sXKFTOM1Mp pic.twitter.com/Yaj40XGVbf

He continues, “Hand in hand with nonprofit partners, [Harry and Meghan] take risks to help communities in need — offering mental-health support to Black women and girls in the U.S., and feeding those affected by natural disasters in India and the Caribbean.
Andrés concludes his write-up by noting that, “In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the duke and duchess have compassion for the people they don’t know. They don’t just opine. They run toward the struggle.”
A very happy birthday to Harry, and congrats to him and Meghan on the recognition! Hopefully he’s able to enjoy the festivities surrounded by his family and other loved ones.
