People Can’t Stop Talking About What Kate Middleton Wore to the Anniversary of This WWI Battle

View gallery

July 1 of last year marked the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Somme, the largest and bloodiest battle of World War 1. (By the end, 1.5 million soldiers had lost their lives.) To commemorate this sad centenary, members of the royal family went to France for the ceremony. Prince William and Prince Harry were there, and so was Kate Middleton, looking somber but extremely elegant as usual.

But royal trend watchers were quick to spot that the Duchess was wearing a VERY unusual accessory. Besides the black-and-white coat and black pillbox hat, she had on something that may prove to be a huge hit come fall: a hairnet.
