The One Thing Martha Stewart Never Leaves the House Without May Surprise You
It’s hard to believe Martha Stewart will celebrate her 80th birthday later this year. If we can all look even half as great as she does at that age, we’ll be doing just fine. She recently shared a few of her beauty secrets that might help us achieve that, including the surprising thing she never leaves the house without.
Along with products that have plenty of sunscreen and brushing on lots of bronzer for a healthy glow, Stewart emphasizes the importance of adoring our ears.
“Make sure you have your earrings on,” she says in a video for Allure. “If you have pierced ears, always wear earrings. I hate seeing the holes in people’s ears when they’re not wearing earrings.”
It might seem like an odd thing to focus on, but hey, it’s an easy way to add a little extra sparkle and fun in our lives, right? And something we’ll definitely keep in mind if we’re ever lucky enough to meet her! In contrast, Stewart also shares a piece of advice about the one item her daughter once requested she stop wearing outside of the house.
“Don’t wear your apron to the grocery store,” she explains. “My daughter told me that when she was about 9 years old. I used to wear my apron all the time to the Hay Day Market in Westport. I was a caterer then and she was always embarrassed that her mother would go out in public with an apron on.”
Take a look to hear more from Stewart, including some of her favorite products:
We love that although some of the items she lists are on the pricier side (she’s a big fan of Clé de Peau Beauté), Stewart keeps things simple with this 10 minute makeup routine. We can still totally follow her tips without splurging on fancy products.
She also lists at least one item that won’t break our bank: Ilia Limitless Lash Lengthening Mascara (Buy at Sephora, $28). The clean beauty product has been described as a “holy grail mascara” — and as you can see on Stewart, it looks great!
But just remember, no matter what makeup brands you choose, don’t forget to grab a pair of earrings before walking out the door.
