Kelly Clarkson Leaves Fans in Tears After Heartbreaking Confession About Her Past

Depression is a sensitive subject, so it’s always noteworthy when someone famous shares that he or she has been there. The latest celeb to do so? Kelly Clarkson.

Once the very first winner of “American Idol,” Clarkson now seems to be living the dream life filled with career success, love, and family. But, the singer recently revealed to Good Housekeeping, things weren’t always as rosy as they seem now.

“I was in a very dark place for a long time,” Clarkson, 34, told the magazine about the rough road she faced after skyrocketing to sudden fame at a young age. “It’s just so hard to have normalcy… It’s just all the crap that comes along with this job.”

The singer described turning down record deals after executives told her she needed to lose weight or that she didn’t have the right look.

“They were like, ‘You have to lose 20 pounds and basically sign your life away,’ and I was small then, by the way. I don’t want to start a relationship with somebody who says something like that,” she said.

On the brighter side, motherhood has made Clarkson stronger and more confident in herself, and she has no plans of turning back to who she was before.

“I sound like such a tool, but becoming a mother has made me next-level confident. I’ve never felt more empowered. I feel like my 20s were spent walking on eggshells making sure everyone felt loved and not really expressing my opinion. As a mom, you just don’t have time, so you get straight to the point,” she shared.

Clarkson also revealed that while motherhood has empowered her, she’s definitely not having any more kids. (She and husband Brandon Blackstock are parents to a daughter River Rose, 2, and a son, Remington, 7 months; Blackstock also has two children from a previous relationship, Savannah, 15, and Seth, 10.)

“The timing of Remy was kind of a surprise. It’s really hard. I’m not going to be pregnant anymore–we scientifically made that impossible for both of us, because I have the world’s worst pregnancies. I basically told my ob-gyn, ‘If you don’t handle this and I get pregnant, I’m going to find you!'” she joked.
