Kate Middleton Left Sweet Notes Inside Books Scattered Around London — Here’s What She Wrote
Like many of us, Kate Middleton decided to focus on a new project while cooped up indoors throughout this past year. Of course, in typical altruistic royal fashion, it also happened to be an inspiring group effort that captured the emotions of everyone coping with the highs and lows of life during a pandemic.
The photo series titled Hold Still: A Portrait of Our Nation in 2020 was recently published as a book by Kate and the National Portrait Gallery. The pictures were sent in from citizens all across the UK and range between heart-wrenching images of frontline workers to happier moments with families at home.
To celebrate the book’s launch, Kate hid free copies of them all around London. Check out the cute photos and video of her leaving one next to a statue of Queen Victoria at Kensington Gardens:
Along with the foreword she penned, Kate also included a sweet note inside each one she scattered around for this delightful treasure hunt. Although we sadly couldn’t get our own hands on a copy, one lucky person who did kindly shared what the duchess wrote:
“Dear finder,
The Hold Still book documents a photography project which captured a portrait of our nation as we lived through the first Covid-19 lockdown last year. The images tell the stories of the challenges we all faced, but also how we came together in the most extraordinary of times.
I am proud to have worked closely with the National Portrait Gallery on this project, and thrilled that the Book Fairies across the country are returning the images to the communities at the heart of Hold Still.
Once you have finished looking through the book, please leave it somewhere else in your community for the next person to enjoy.
With my very best wishes, Catherine.”
The notes were printed on her official Kensington Palace stationary and personally signed in her elegant penmanship. We’re sure anyone who got their hands on this special edition of the book will treasure the note for years to come.
Unfortunately for us over here across the pond, the book only seems to be currently available in the UK. However, we can still take a look at some of the photos and Kate’s behind-the-scenes work on it over on her and Prince William’s Instagram page.
