Josh Duhamel & Fergie’s Relationship Timeline: Marriage, Split & Coparenting With Love
The 'Ransom Canyon' actor was married to the musician for a decade
Ransom Canyon star Josh Duhamel might be turning the heat up on screen, but off-screen, he’s had his fair share of high-profile romances—most notably with music sensation Fergie, with whom he was married for 10 years from 2009 to 2019. This duo first crossed paths back in 2004 when Fergie’s group, The Black Eyed Peas, were making an appearance on Las Vegas, a series in which Duhamel was acting at the time. While the actor didn’t exactly bring his smoothest line to the songstress, blurting out that he found her “hot,” he still managed to charm her. Here, a look back at their relationship, split and what they’ve said about one another.

It was in 2009, after several years together, that this couple said “I do,” after Duhamel first popped the question in 2007. The couple enjoyed a few years together while juggling both of their booming careers until 2013, when their family grew. Their son, Axl, was born that summer, and their experience as first-time parents was something that they approached with honesty.

“As any hard-working mom knows, it is a delicate balancing act that I have to be juggling all of the time with the different schedules, the family schedules, the work schedules,” Fergie told People in 2018 a few years after welcoming Axl. “I’m constantly having to have boundaries, make sure that all of those hours are in and it’s a balanced lifestyle because I’ve got so much on my plate that sometimes I’m just a tired Mom!” she shared.
As for Josh, he had a few valid concerns when it came to bringing up his son and guiding him with the right values. “Growing up in LA, I don’t want to raise a kid who feels entitled to anything,” he told HuffPost Live per Daily Mail in 2014. “I want him to understand the importance of working hard and getting an education,” the actor said. After the birth of Axl in 2013, they raised their son together for several years before announcing in 2017 that they were separating and by 2019, they officially went their separate ways. Since their split, however, their relationship as coparents and friends remains harmonious.

Josh Duhamel and Fergie remain amicable
Though things didn’t work out for this famous couple in the long run, that doesn’t mean that there’s bad blood between them. “We both have the same priority and that’s raising a good son,” Duhamel told Entertainment Tonight in 2023 as reported by TODAY. “We want him to be a good, kind, compassionate, hard-working, thoughtful young man and we both have that common goal with him. And she’s easy to get along with. It’s as simple as that.” After splitting with Fergie, Josh went on to marry Audra Mari and in 2024, they even welcomed a new baby in 2024.
Post-separation, the love that Fergie felt for her ex was evident. “We’re great friends, Josh and I, there’s so much love that we have for each other,” Fergie told Entertainment Tonight back in 2017. “We really like each other, we have fun with each other. We’re just not a romantic couple anymore.” She continued, “But we are still Axl’s parents through and through, and our families—each other’s families, the cousins, my nieces and nephews—it’s all the same. So that’s the only thing that’s changed.” An arrangement you love to see!
