Faith Hill Reveals How Tim McGraw Responded When Her Dad Was Dying
It’s good to have someone to lean on during tough times, and country singer Faith Hill says her husband, Tim McGraw, stepped up in a big way when her father was suffering from dementia. From Hill and McGraw’s romantic duets to their constant support of each other, it’s clear they’re deeply in love — and this is just the latest example of their beautiful relationship.
The superstar duo, who are acting together for the first time in the upcoming show 1883, sat down for an interview with People Magazine in which Hill revealed just how much she relied on McGraw’s support when she lost her father, Ted Perry, in 2019. His death came just three years after Hill’s mom, Edna, died in 2016, making for a heartbreaking few years for their family.
“It was a long passing,” Hill said. “It’s difficult to lose parents just a couple of years apart and watch them pass right in front of you. My dad had Lewy body dementia and it was difficult to watch a man you know be someone that you don’t recognize.”
Lewy body dementia is a tragic progressive form of dementia that “leads to a decline in thinking, reasoning and independent function,” according to the Alzheimer’s Association. But even through the hardest times, Hill said McGraw was always there. “My dad adored Tim, and Tim would visit him daily,” she said. “He was so present for the passing of both my parents. You reveal yourself when you are going through struggles, and that’s just another layer of partnership.”
It’s all part of what makes their relationship so strong, as Hill beautifully put it. “When you love someone, you commit to being there for them for the highs, the lows, anytime,” Hill said. “You face the struggles.”
With this philosophy in mind, it’s clear these two are more than perfect for each other!
