Dolly Parton Reveals the Drugstore Makeup She’s Relied on For Years — And It’s All Under $10
Dolly Parton is famous for saying, “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap” — but it turns out her favorite makeup brands are totally budget-friendly!
The country queen revealed her go-to beauty staples in a new interview with Wall Street Journal. “I use a lot of Maybelline products and I’ve used Max Factor’s Panstik makeup for all of my grown years,” she said.
Although Parton didn’t specify which Maybelline products she has in her makeup bag, we’d bet money she has a bright pink tube of their classic Great Lash Waterproof Mascara (Buy at Walmart, $4.77) and maybe a couple shades of the Unstoppable Mechanical Eyeliner (Buy at Walmart, $9.98). And despite saying she sometimes has trouble finding the Max Factor foundation sticks, there’s a good chance you can grab some at your local drugstore (Buy at Walmart, $9.49).
We love that all the products are under $10! It just goes to show that no matter how famous or glitzy she might seem, Parton still keeps things simple. Or as she says in her song “Backwoods Barbie,” “The way I look is just a country girl’s idea of glam.”
Parton recently channeled that sense of glamor into her first ever fragrance, Scent From Above, and is set to follow up with a line of makeup and wigs. She also spoke again about how she looks when she’s not wearing one of her big hair pieces, “I usually don’t wear wigs when I’m home. I keep my own hair the same color and a little longer than shoulder length, just to the top of my boob.”
But even at her most casual, you’ll never see Parton in one popular type of loungewear: “I don’t wear sweatpants.” Of course, she still finds her own ways to feel cozy at home. “I have my own little house clothes, like a little dress-type teddy, a long teddy, then I have a little jacket or shirt to match if I get cold,” she said. “I call them my baby clothes because they’re soft like a baby. But I don’t wear sweat clothes.”
To be honest, we can’t even imagine what Parton would look like in a pair of sweatpants anyway! But we’re definitely going to pick up some of her go-to makeup while we wait for her own beauty line to debut.
