Dog the Bounty Hunter followed the personal life of reality TV star Duane “Dog” Chapman, his family and the living they made chasing fugitives as bounty hunters throughout Hawaii and beyond. As the owner of Da Kine Bail Bonds, Dog led the reality series with his loved ones by his side—one of the most integral members of his team being his wife at the time, Beth. On June 26, 2019, Beth died after losing her fight with throat cancer. There is not another Beth,” he told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “There’ll never be another Beth. There ain’t a girl built like another Beth.”

The television star soon revealed a promise he made to his late wife, letting her know that while he would likely date again, he would never marry someone else. “What deal we said is I will never take ‘Beth’ off my chest, I have her name here. And I will never get married,” he shared with People. However, less than a year after her passing, it was revealed that Dog had proposed to his girlfriend at the time, Francie Frane.

I need a partner,” Duane later told People after his engagement was announced. “I’ve said it before. There will never be another Mrs. Dog. There is not. Francie couldn’t do that. There will be a last Mrs. Chapman. If Beth was here, and saw Francie and saw how she was raised, her morality and this and that, Beth would say, ‘Big daddy, don’t lose her.'”

Here, read all about Duane Chapman’s wife Francie and what he’s said about finding happiness once again.

How Dog the Bounty Hunter met Francie Frane

For both Chapman and Frane, when their paths first crossed, they were both still very much in the grieving process. While Chapman was learning to live without Beth by his side, Francie was mourning her late husband, Bob, who had passed not long before Dog’s wife had. Bob previously worked as an excavator, and when Dog called his phone in need of work, he was surprised to hear Francie’s voice on the other line, informing him of Bob’s passing. On that phone call, their grief brought them together and they eventually attended a church service together.

We understood the pain that the other one was feeling and [in] those tough days and moments, we helped each other stand up,” Francie told Entertainment Tonight. “We could cry with each other and talk about what we were feeling. We were able to walk alongside each other through the pain and heartbreak and it brought us together in this amazing way.” In 2020, Chapman got down on one knee and in September 2021, they were married.

What Dog has said about his new wife

Both understanding the feeling of losing a spouse, Chapman shared in a 2020 interview that their mutual understanding of each other’s situation helped in their healing process. “With Francie, I’m allowed to speak about Beth, we speak about her husband. We cry. We hold each other,” he told E! News in 2020. “I am a fixer. I have to catch bad guys. I got to be at the top of my game. I can’t feel sorry for myself or guilty,” he said. “I got to go out there and make a difference. That’s what I do for a living so I’ve got to man up. She helps me do that.”

While there may never be another Beth, Dog’s story with Francie proves that even after unimaginable loss, healing—and love—are still possible.
