‘I Feel Like Myself’: Dave Coulier Beats Cancer and Shares an Uplifting Health Update

The ‘Full House’ alum opens up about chemo, recovery and his co-stars’ emotional reactions

Full House star Dave Coulier is officially cancer-free! After a months-long battle with lymphatic blood cancer and undergoing chemotherapy, the comedian has announced promising test results and a positive prognosis. Here’s everything to know about his cancer journey—plus, see the sweet showings of support from Coulier’s Full House family!

Dave Coulier’s cancer battle

Coulier was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that starts in the lymphatic system, in October 2024, and announced his condition in November on the Today show.

His cancer diagnosis came shortly after he fell ill with an upper respiratory infection that caused abnormal swelling in his lymph nodes, said Coulier, including a “golf-ball sized lump” in his groin within a week of getting sick.

While blood, heart and additional tests came back normal, Coulier’s medical team opted to remove and biopsy a lymph node in his neck.

“[My doctors] said, ‘Hey, we wish we had better news, but you have non-Hodgkin lymphoma, B-cell lymphoma,’” the Full House alum recalled about his original results. “It was a shock.”

Coulier started chemo treatments right after receiving his diagnosis, he told Parade during a new cover story interview, and as it does, the drug course took a serious toll on his overall health.

“The symptoms were getting worse and worse with each treatment,” he told the outlet. “So neuropathy [or nerve damage], which I hadn’t experienced before, started to increase. Nausea started to increase. Dizziness started to increase. They call it chemo brain, where you’re a bit foggy—that started to increase. My days of being able to get up and walk around and be active started to decrease.

“Some days, I just didn’t want to do anything,” Coulier continued, admitting that his condition got so bad by his sixth treatment, he didn’t have the will to get out of bed. “Though I wanted to move around and go out and, you know, work around the house, I just couldn’t. There was so much cancer-related fatigue that got progressively worse and worse and worse, and I thought, ‘Wow, this is how it’s going to go.’”

Dave Coulier’s latest cancer update

During his conversation with Parade, Coulier revealed that he had finished his sixth and final round of chemotherapy in February, and then had another biopsy on a lymph node in his neck.

“[My wife] Melissa and I waited for a week to get the biopsy results back, and there is no sign of cancer,” he told the outlet. “One of the few times in my life when ‘zero’ has been a great number to hear.”

At the time of the February 26 interview, Coulier was awaiting the results of an additional CAT scan, which would determine if his cancer would be “in the rear-view mirror,” he said.

After a grueling fight against the disease, the Fuller House star shared that he was finally beginning to feel well again for the first time in a while.

“I’ll tell you this. Today is the first day that I really feel like, ‘Wow, I’m feeling pretty darn good. I feel like myself.’ And it’s today,” Coulier told Parade

On Monday, March 31, a representative for Coulier, 65, confirmed to People that he was indeed cancer-free.

His ‘Full House’ castmates’ sweet reactions

Since going public with his diagnosis, Coulier received an outpouring of love and encouragement from his on-screen family. Now, his longtime friends and colleagues are showering him with praise again amid his great news.

“DAVE IS CANCER FREE!!!!,” his fellow Full House star Candance Cameron Bure wrote on Instagram with a slideshow of photos of herself with Coulier, including a sweet Full House throwback. “Join me in celebrating this AMAZING news—let’s shower him with all the love in the world!”

Kelly Rizzo, wife of the late Bob Saget, commented on the post on behalf of both herself and Saget, with whom Coulier famously shared a very close friendship that began even before they shared the screen as Danny Tanner and Joey Gladstone, respectively.

“I knew we would get this good news soon!! We all love you so much, Dave! I know Bob is smiling down big,” wrote Rizzo.

John Stamos also shared his joy about Coulier’s victory, posting a video to Instagram that showed a screen recording of his phone while Coulier FaceTimed him to deliver the news. “I’m overwhelmed with joy and gratitude to share that my dear friend Dave has beaten cancer,” said Stamos. “He fought like hell with strength and heart and true to form [for] Dave, a whole lot of humor. We’d FaceTime constantly during the toughest days, trying to find something, anything to laugh about. And somehow Dave always managed to crack a joke and lift the mood and remind me and himself that joy still exists in the hardest moments.”
