12 Celebrities You Didn’t Know Are Battling Serious Health Conditions
They might appear perfect to fans, but behind closed doors, many celebrities suffer from serious health conditions you never knew about. Jillian Michaels, Tom Hanks, and Halle Berry all have spoken up about the long-term, chronic diseases that affect their lives.
For fitness guru Jillian, she has PCOS, or polycystic ovarian syndrome. The condition occurs when a woman’s hormones are out of balance, causing changes within the menstrual cycle and causing issues with pregnancy. Jillian manages her symptoms through diet and exercise and has been a spokesperson and an inspiration for millions of women who suffer from the same disease.
“Since I was 16 I’ve had PCOS and endometriosis, which is why I wrote Master Your Metbolism about hormones,” she explained on The Talk back in 2010. “Personally, for me, it was something I was a little bit ashamed about.”
However, the disease is extremely common, affecting 20 percent of women. Other famous people who affected by the condition is Victoria Beckham and Biggest Loser Olivia Ward.
