Carrie Underwood Needed 40 Stitches on Her Face After Her Fall

Staying optimistic. Carrie Underwood rang in the new year by updating fans on her health after she suffered a scary fall outside her Nashville home in November. The country singer, 34, revealed in a Sunday, December 31, blog post that she not only broke her wrist, but suffered severe cuts on her face — and needed roughly 40 stitches.

Carrie admitted that she isn’t ready to step in front of the camera just yet because she fears she “might look a bit different,” but is still “determined to make 2018 amazing.” To see what else the American Idol alum had to say about her terrifying accident, watch the video below:

As previously reported, the Grammy winner fell just two days after she hosted the 51st annual Country Music Association Awards on Sunday, November 8. On November 15, Carrie assured fans that she was on the mend following the unexpected misstep. “I just wanted let everyone know that I’m doing great. Had surgery on my wrist yesterday & all went well…even though I’ll be setting off airport metal detectors from now on,” she tweeted. “I’m so thankful for the doctors, nurses, family & friends who’ve been taking such great care of me.”

According to People, Carrie’s husband, hockey player Mike Fisher, rushed home to Nashville to be with his wife at the time of her fall. At the time, her rep said, “Her recovery will take some time and she appreciates all prayers and well wishes.” Carrie then followed up with a thank you to all her fans on November 12. “Thanks so much for all the well wishes everybody,” the mom-of-one — who shares son Isaiah, 2, with Mike, 37 — said. “I’ll be alright… might just take some time. Glad I’ve got the best hubby in the world to take care of me.”
