Kate Starr is a Certified Nervous System Regulation Practitioner with a master’s in public health specializing in women’s health. As the founder of Aligned with Kate, she helps ambitious, driven women overcome burnout and regulate their nervous systems for lasting transformation. With a background in global health and behavioral change, Kate’s work is not just about managing stress, but rewiring neural pathways for sustainable well-being.

A Journey from Breakdown to Breakthrough

Before stepping into the world of nervous system coaching, Kate worked with underserved communities on self-care health initiatives for a large international NGO. Despite her professional success, she personally faced a debilitating health crisis—what is known as a dorsal vagal shutdown, a state where the nervous system gets stuck in freeze mode. Diagnosed with CPTSD and Major Depressive Disorder, she was bedridden for months, struggling with symptoms she had never experienced before.

Her search for healing led her to a deep exploration of the nervous system, working with a variety of practitioners. Through her research and recovery, Kate discovered that her nervous system had been dysregulated for over a decade, a result of past trauma compounded by the demands of her high-impact career. By applying the techniques she now shares with others, she began the process of healing and working towards regaining her vitality.

A Unique, Root-Cause Approach to Healing

Kate’s philosophy challenges conventional wellness models that rely on daily routines for symptom management. Instead of temporary fixes, she focuses on creating lasting neural and physiological shifts, so stress management becomes second nature rather than a practice that requires constant effort. Her approach integrates:

  • Behavioral Change Science – Leveraging her public health background to motivate clients effectively.
  • SomaNeuro Alignment – A proprietary technique combining body-based movements with subconscious rewiring.
  • A Holistic Framework – Addressing gut health, hormone balance, and the mind-body connection.
  • Action-Based Transformation – Moving beyond intellectualizing symptoms to creating tangible shifts in the nervous system.

Her work has supported over 700 women through self-paced courses and structured coaching programs. In her Nervous System Reset program, participants who complete the course often report significant progress in their personal healing journeys.

From Personal Healing to Global Impact

Kate’s journey of overcoming adversity deeply informs her mission. Growing up in Washington, DC, she witnessed firsthand the resilience of her mother, one of the first women to earn a PhD in Economics from Johns Hopkins and later a leader in women’s development under the Clinton Administration. Inspired by her mother’s strength, Kate dedicated her life to impact-driven work.

She has since become a thought leader in nervous system regulation, drawing inspiration from experts like Judson Brewer (PhD), Dr. Joe Dispenza, Peter Levine, and Richard Schwartz. However, she doesn’t believe in rigid frameworks—her method encourages women to trust their intuition and develop internal safety rather than adhere to strict protocols.

Scaling the Mission: What’s Next for Aligned with Kate

Kate’s vision extends beyond individual coaching. Future plans for Aligned with Kate include:

  • Training Coaches & Therapists – Equipping other practitioners with her methodology.
  • Advocacy & Policy Change – Promoting nervous system regulation as a critical tool in trauma-informed care.
  • A Program for Men – Expanding nervous system regulation work to male clients.
  • Non-Profit Work – Making her programs accessible to those in need, particularly individuals on medical leave or disability.

Breaking the Mold: A Fresh Perspective on Healing

Kate’s work focuses on establishing present-moment safety, allowing the subconscious to recognize that past experiences no longer pose a threat.

In a world that often glorifies productivity at the cost of well-being, Kate Starr is working to  empower women to heal deeply through slow, compassionate practices, break free from burnout, and reclaim their lives with ease.
