3 Easy Keep-Cool and Look Great Summer Hairstyles
When the mercury rises, it’s tempting to shove our hair into a hat and call it a day. But having great summer hair can be easier than you think! Here are three sweet summer hairstyles you’ll love, plus instructions for how to pull them off.
Pull long hair into a pretty pony.
The fan-like effect of a swinging tail in back and loose tendrils in front does double duty by cooling off the face and neck.
To do: Wrap hair in two-inch sections around a one-inch barrel curling iron (try this one from Hot Tools, $39.99, Amazon). Let cool, then backcomb hair at the crown, then, leaving a few tendrils out in front, secure hair into a pony at the back of the crown. Tease the tail for added fullness.
Sweep short hair into a pompadour.
Propping hair up and off the scalp offers stay-cool ventilation and beautiful volume! Plus, it keeps a shorter crop from sticking to your forehead.
To do: Tease dry hair at the roots and the back of the crown. Smooth strands up and back with a brush; set with hairspray.
Pin medium-length hair into a mid-brow pouf.
Pulling strands off the brow allows air to hit your face, while shoulder-grazing waves let the breeze blow easily through to the neck.
To do: Curl one-inch sections of hair with a one-inch barrel curling iron and let cool; comb with fingers. Tease a two-inch piece of hair in front, then pin it up and back.
