The Best Jennifer Aniston Hairstyles From the ‘90s to Now
From “The Rachel” cut to her blunt bobs, see how the star’s hair has changed over the decades
Jennifer Aniston is known for many things: her impressive acting career (including her role as Rachel Green in Friends), chic style and, of course, her long list of iconic hairstyles. Aniston has never been one to shy away from changing up her ‘do and has sported a sleek bob, long layers, wavy mid-length cut and more. Her hair is infamous, especially during her time on Friends, sporting “The Rachel” cut. In fact, most hairstylists you know probably have had a client come in at some point and request The Rachel cut. Here, we take a look at some of the most iconic Jennifer Aniston hair looks through the years.
How Jennifer Aniston’s hair has changed over the years
Jennifer Aniston has tried many different hairstyles, as well as hair colors (though she typically sticks to somewhere in the golden blonde range). Her hair was a major part of her Rachel Green character on Friends, and in almost every season, she sported a new cut and style. On the red carpet, she would try many different looks from sleek updos and ponytails to pin-straight layers and a wavy down-do.
She’s played with different lengths as well. In season six of Friends, Aniston graced our screens with long, face-framing layers (one of my personal favorites of her hairstyles). She’s also stepped out in blunt bobs and shoulder-length styles as well.
What Jennifer Aniston has said about her hair
Despite being in her 50s—an age where many women struggle with thinning hair and hair loss—Aniston’s hair seems to be thriving. In fact, in an interview with InStyle in September last year, Aniston said, “But I do have to say, my hair is growing at an alarmingly fast rate, and I really do owe it to the scalp scrub of just the overall use of all of the LolaVie line because it’s just changed my hair.”
LolaVie is Aniston’s hair care line, which launched in 2021. The line includes some fan favorites like the Glossing Detangler, Restorative Shampoo and Conditioner, and Exfoliate and Detox Scalp Shampoo which is the scalp scrub Aniston was referring to in her InStyle interview.
Aniston’s longtime hairstylist Chris McMillan, who helped create The Rachel cut, told Vogue that when it comes to washing her hair, Aniston likes alternating between Drunk Elephant Cocomino Glossing Shampoo and Living Proof No Frizz Shampoo (Aniston was a co-owner of Living Proof when it first launched but is no longer involved with the brand). McMillan also said in the Vogue interview that he tells his clients to condition from roots to ends, so we can assume Aniston conditions all of her hair.
