If you're a coffee lover, you don't need us to clue you in to the amazing health perks that your one-cup-or-more-a-day habit will reap you. Many studies have found that coffee drinkers tend to have a lower risk of dementia, type 2 diabetes, and even enjoy a longer life.
Here is another benefit to add to the growing list: a lower risk of colon cancer, the fourth most common form of cancer in the U.S. A study from the University of Southern California (USC) Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center found that even drinking one cup of day could cut your chances of developing colorectal cancer by a whopping 26 percent.
The more cups you downed, the better: People who had more than 2-and-a-half cups of Joe a day cut their risk by HALF. It didn't even matter WHAT kind of coffee you drank. Instant, decaf, espressos, lattes--it was all good, thanks to the antioxidants in the beans.
While the researchers stopped short of urging people to pick up the habit if they're not already coffee drinkers, they did say that those already hooked could celebrate the possibility that they're doing their bodies even more good as they enjoy their first cup in the morning.
