“Autumn in Ohio is my favorite season, but this year it only brought heartache. Since my husband’s recent passing from a car accident, fall was a reminder that he wasn’t here to rake the leaves into a huge pile so our 8-year-old twin boys could run and jump into the middle of it.
“One day, I asked the boys if they would grab some rakes and bag up the leaves. _It hurts so much not to see you playing with our boys, _I thought.
“Just then, the air whipped into a fierce wind. When it suddenly faded, the leaves had settled into a colorful mound. I felt my husband there in the yard with us, and my eyes filled with tears as I watched the boys grinning in awe and jumping gleefully into the pile. As their laughter filled the air, I knew what I thought we had lost was still ours to cherish after all.”
