Mom of two Michelle Kenny had enjoyed a long day at a Fourth of July cookout at a park in New York City with her family just hours before an enraged woman with a knife came after her daughter, Tomiesha Abraham.
Rain interrupted their time in the park, so the whole gathering had moved back to an apartment to continue the festive celebration with friends and family. That's when, according to Abraham's uncle, Paul Davis, Ashanti Daniels and her boyfriend showed up--and started bothering Kenny's daughter.
Daniels was enraged when her boyfriend started talking to Abraham (who has a two-year-old daughter of her own), and threw Kenny's daughter to the floor, pulled out a knife, and stabbed her repetitively in the arms and stomach. But this violent attack was no match for Kenny's motherly--and grandmotherly--instinct, which kicked in immediately.
Kenny rushed in to defend her precious daughter, and Daniels stabbed her in the chest. Both mother and daughter were rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, Kenny could not be saved. But thanks to this self-sacrificing mom paying the ultimate price, her daughter is currently in stable condition and relatives say she's going to pull through.
The whole family is grieving for the loss of this giving and nurturing mom, whom one relative called "an angel who was taken from us" to the New York Daily News.
Since then, there's been an outpouring of love for the family on Facebook and the whole family is in our thoughts and prayers.
