So you were halfway through sending an email when something else caught your attention (like one of thousands of adorable cat videos on the internet) and you wandered off. So what? It might not be the bad thing we all say it is. It might just mean you’re super-smart, according to a recent study.
Science says your distraction is due to the difficulty intelligent people have putting their ideas in order. You try to tackle every little thing that comes your way without prioritizing them, which means you constantly jump from one task to the next--and it could leave you feeling like you’re not getting much done.
Although the study looked at 10,000 workers in 17 countries, we can see how the same would hold true for everyone from the secretary working from a cubicle to the stay-at-home mom trying to juggle three screaming little ones. Let’s face it: Your to-do lists are equally long even if the responsibilities are different.
So stop beating yourself up for getting distracted, and take it as a compliment. It’s not easy being as smart as you!
