Mom Jessie Maher was breastfeeding her 4-week-old baby at the Target in Torrington, CT when every breastfeeding mother's worst nightmare happened to her.
She was verbally attacked by a man for simply feeding her child.

In the video she recorded of the altercation, which contains vulgar language and might be upsetting to some, you can see how angry he got at the sight of her. He calls her "disgusting and "nasty," among other things, and even asks the store's employees for a refund because of her.
But as scary as the situation was, Maher was relieved to see the staff at Target come to her defense and eventually gesture for the man to leave.
"Everyone ran to my aid. They were there just to help us and it was awesome. We need people like this," Maher said.
Her video has now gone super-viral, and she has been flooded with messages of positivity from other breastfeeding mothers. Now, Maher has responded to the aftermath of the encounter on her Facebook, thanking those mothers who have opened up to her about their own harrowing experiences.
She wrote, "Some run home and deal with the screaming baby, some hide in a bathroom, some sit down and cover up with a blanket, some sit in a hot car. This is all in fear of the reactions we get, whether it is a dirty look or the extreme situation that I endured yesterday."

She went on to request that people be kind to all mothers, regardless of their choices on how to feed their young children.
She wrote, "I stand with all mamas breastfeeding, bottle feeding, covered or not. It is hard enough being a mother, period. We need to build new mothers up not tear them down. After all they are raising the next generation of people in this country."
