Fingertips and toes aren’t the only body parts that take a beating in the dry, frigid depths of winter. Your lips get a raw deal, too--pun intended. Instead of stocking your home, car, office, and purse with their own separate lip balm, use this easy at-home cure that actually heals the damage instead of just masking the symptoms.
Next time the winter wind kicks up, treat yourself to a cup of black or green tea when you get home--it will do double duty for your fingers and your pout. Let the teabag soak in your hot water for a couple minutes, enough to saturate it. Then keep it pressed against your lips for three to five minutes--after which you can sip the tea at your leisure. Tea boasts tannins that not only sooth the dryness of chapped lips but also help repair the damage associated with this type of wear. You can still keep that ChapStick--you just won’t need it.
