Every bride dreams of feeling happy and beautiful on her wedding day, and for Emma Later, that dream was causing her to postpone her plans to get married.
That's because she weighed more than 300 pounds, and she couldn't bear the thought of walking down the aisle in a size 24 dress to marry her fiancé, David, who proposed in 2009. Ashamed of her size, she put off the planning her dream wedding for years.
The mother of four continually gorged on a diet of takeout food, fried foods, and snacks like Pringles chips. But when a friend tagged an unflattering photo of her on Facebook, Emma finally decided it was time to change her unhealthy lifestyle.
"I had no energy to walk. I was quite miserable and lethargic and withdrawn," she said.

She joined her local Slimming World group and gave up the fast food, swapping them for nutritious meals and whole foods. She even bought a Fitbit monitor and started making sure she walked 10,000 steps in a day.
The new habits weren't all that dramatic or hard to stick to, she said.
"It was just small changes, like taking my daughter for a walk in her pushchair every morning, and walking the dog every evening... I love to eat food, and I was never hungry on this new diet. It’s just about being aware and mindful of what you are eating. It’s so obvious when you do it.
After dropping a whopping 140 pounds with her new lifestyle, Emma was finally ready to face the one thing she'd been putting off: Wedding dress shopping.
This time, she was able to fit into a size-12 dress for her wedding--and she was even happy with the wedding photos.
"I felt amazing in my dress, and it was the perfect way to celebrate how far I’ve come. For once in my life, I felt happy with people taking photos of me," said the stunning bride.
