It was supposed to be a birthday present for Sylvie Tobin's dad. Something to put in his boat to scare away the birds.
Instead, it became his 18-month-old daughter's best buddy. Now she carries it around EVERYWHERE. It sleeps and eats with her. She puts it in her toy stroller, and carries it to the park.
On the face of it, that's not unusual. Everyone knows that toddlers form bonds with an object--be it a blankie or stuffie. But this lovey is a bit unusual.
It's a plastic lawn owl. And it was love at first sight as soon as Sylvie, who lives in the Boston area, laid eyes on it.

She named it Whootie, and it's not the first owl to capture the toddler's heart. She has a bedtime book about owls that her parents read every night, and a video of an owl singing "Twinkle Twinkle" that she also watches pretty much every night, her mom, Rebecca, told Buzzfeed.
“Most people say, ‘That thing’s really scary, I’m surprised she likes it,’” Rebecca told the web site. But we think this is the cutest thing ever.
Don't you agree?
