How many nights have you spent tossing and turning because you can't seem to shake that awful recurring nightmare of yours? It's easy to place blame on that scary movie you watched before bed or something strange you saw on the news, but if you're a side-sleeper then this small adjustment could put your sleeping struggles to rest.
According to a 2004 study published in Sleep and Hypnosis, those who slept on their left side were much more likely to have bad dreams than those sleeping on their right side. In the study, 41% of left-side sleepers had nightmares in comparison to only 14.6% of right-side sleepers. So, you may want to roll onto your right side tonight if you've been having trouble sleeping.
The study resurfaced when a writer for Van Winkle's noticed his girlfriend was falling asleep on her back only to wake up on her left side after having a nightmare. Though the research only observed 63 people, the evidence proving the dissatisfaction of left-siders is enough for us to reconsider sleep positions.
