Polishing silver ranks up there on the list of tasks we dread to do. Just the thought of buying silver polish, applying LOTS of elbow grease, and then buffing each piece seems too daunting. But thanks to this trick, you (or your table) can rock the sparkling look again.
This time-saver works on silverware, jewelry, and larger pieces. Plus, it's super easy.
Fill a large pot with water until it's about three-quarters full. Tear off an 8-inch piece of aluminum foil, cut the sheet into 3-inch pieces, and add the pieces into the pot. Turn on the heat and wait until the water boils.
While the water's boiling, toss in your silver, and let soak for 15 seconds. Remove each piece with tongs and set on a towel to cool. Once they've cooled, buff each one with a towel.
For really tarnished pieces, add salt. Then repeat the steps above. Just be sure to rinse out the pieces in cool water to get the salt off.
You'll never have to buy polish again!
