So much is lost when dementia takes over an elderly person's mind. But it seems at least one characteristic can't be quashed: maternal instinct.
Maxine Daniel, a mom from Durham, England, had seen this moving story about an older woman with dementia coming alive again when she was given a doll to care for. So she decided to give it a try on her Nana Lilly, who has the same condition.

In the below video that's going viral, you can see Nana Lilly receive her Christmas present from Maxine: a baby Annabell, an interactive doll that cries, coos, and more. While Nana Lilly may not be the same person she once was, the lifelike plaything brings her so much joy. You can't help but smile when you see Lilly's eyes light up over Annabell's sweet noises. And when Annabell starts crying, Lilly takes action as any concerned nana would. Watch, but keep those tissues close.
My Christmas gift to my lovely Nana Lilly (who sadly has dementia) was a Baby Annabelle doll. Her reaction is a joy to see and melts my heart ❤❤❤❤❤ with CoriePosted by Maxine Daniel on Sunday, December 27, 2015
