Want to make the lyric, "How lovely are your branches" ring true for your Christmas tree all season? Look no further than this simple watering hack.
After you bring your tree home and set it up in its stand, refrain from watering it with cold tap water. Doing this might be quick and easy, but it's not doing any favors for you or your tree. That's what makes those annoying pine needles fall to the ground, and it's also what ultimately shortens the tree's lifespan before the holiday. Instead, bring water to a boil and let it sit for five minutes before you water it.
This will open the pores at the bottom of the trunk, which will allow the tree to absorb more water, and have a longer life for the big day. What a perfect excuse to sing "Oh, Christmas Tree!"
