These New Photos Prove Celine Dion Is Doing Okay

UPDATE (5/2) — More than a year after her beloved husband Rene Angelil passed away, Celine Dion put on a brave face in a place where she’d never gone before—the Met Gala. At one of the biggest celebrity fashion events of the year, the superstar debuted a bold new look to celebrate the night. Donning an Atelier Versace gown and an origami-inspired headpiece, she turned many heads that evening. But more importantly, she brought her beautiful smile as her best accessory.

And she made it clear that the event meant so much more to her than just a chance to rock a dramatic outfit.

“This is like having a job for the first time or having a kiss for the first time—this is big,” said. “I’m not going to have enough eyes [to see it all].”

Her stylist Law Roach, who describes Dion as “truly a fashion girl” helped the singer reinvent her wardrobe last summer and use the beauty of fashion as a way to help her cope with her difficult year after her husband’s death.

Clearly, if she’s looking bright and happy like this, it’s a good sign of things to come. We couldn’t be happier for her!

UPDATE (2/22) — Last month, Celine Dion revealed a Christmas photo with her family putting on brave smiles without her late husband, with the caption, “Holiday memories! Now time to get back to work!” Now, she’s putting those words very much into action, promoting the launch of “The Celine Dion Collection” of handbags, luggage and accessories. And she has a lot to say about how she feels after the tragedy in the midst of her hard work.

“[The collection is] not something we had talked about, but I’m pretty sure he would be very proud because my husband is… we’ve always been 50/50 together in everything that I’ve done in my life,” she said in an exclusive interview with ETOnline.com. “When he left, he came inside of all of my kids’ hearts and mine, he gave the rest of his 50 percent for me to be complete, to continue the rest of my life, to feel strong and to believe that I can still do this and he will always be with me.”

Then, the singer got really personal.

“I feel stronger,” she added. “He gave me the rest of him. I feel stronger, I step forward. I say what I mean, I mean what I say. I stand up for my kids and I feel like I’m the leader of the family.”

Beautiful, Celine. We’re all rooting for you and your whole family!

(1/13) Last year, singer Celine Dion dealt with a series of devastating events when she lost her husband of 22 years, Rene Angelil, on Jan. 14 after a long fight with throat cancer. Two days later, her brother, Daniel, died from cancer as well.

In December, when Dion spoke about what she had planned for her first Christmas without her husband, we couldn’t help cheering after hearing her inspiring message. Now that it’s 2017, we hope the new year brings more happiness–and based on these new photos, we’d say she is well on her way to recovery.

The 48-year-old mother of three recently shared a her first family Christmas photo without Angelil. She and her three boys, Rene-Charles, 15, and twins Eddy and Nelson, 6, sit snuggled together in front of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. “Holiday memories,” she captioned the photo.

We can’t imagine how hard it must have been for her to put on a brave smile for her boys, especially because Dion and her sons decided to continue family traditions, like their ski trip to Montana, even without Angelil.

It looks like 2017 has also inspired Dion to change up her hair. Her long, honey-colored locks have been a staple the past few years, but a new photo reveals a dramatic new ‘do. Makeup artist Charlotte Tillbury just posted a photo of the singer with very light blond hair, and with spring on the horizon, the lighter color is a perfect match.

Dion also posted a silly photo of herself and her boys celebrating the twins’ October birthday at Disneyland. We’re glad she still wants to have fun–a sign that her progress is steadily improving.

It’s nice to see Dion smiling again, proving once again the show must go on!
