Cleaning the microwave gets a bit…sticky. We’re talking about that caked-on pasta sauce, of course, but also the decision whether or not to use a chemical-based cleaner.
After all, when the chemicals scrub all the crud off, you’re going to put food back in there. Luckily, you don’t have to worry about chemical residue when you have this no-chemical, no-scrub trick. All you need is a lemon, a microwave-safe bowl, and some water.
Simply cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice from both halves of the citrus fruit into the bowl along with about 1¼ cup of water. Nuke the lemon water for five to 10 minutes on high, and let the steam from the mixture go to work loosening all the built-up grime.
When it’s done, remove the bowl (carefully, since it will be hot) and use a cloth to wipe the precious kitchen tool sparkling clean. Now you can reheat leftovers worry-free.
