We all do it, the quick rinse treatment on our coffee pots. Tomorrow, we think, tomorrow we’ll actually wash it out. Until tomorrow turns into a month, two months, and now there’s burnt coffee stuck to the bottom.
Instead of scraping and scrubbing--if you can get your hand into the pot at the right angle--use this cleaning trick that saves your arm the effort. All you have to do is swirl the pot using the handle!

If the bottom of the pot is relatively free of caked-on coffee, add ice cubes and a bit of salt. Swirl the mixture around until the salt crystals have scrubbed the mess clean, then wash and replace it into your coffee machine. If you have a bit of tougher grime to get loose, use ice cubes and a powdered abrasive cleanser (like Ajax or Comet). Use the same swirl technique to lift away the stains, but be sure to clean the pot thoroughly when you’re done. Don't like to use harsh cleaners on your kitchen tools? No problem. Use white vinegar and salt with the ice instead.
The trick works so well, even servers at restaurants--where coffee is brewed day in and day out--swear by it. Try it yourself and see how much better your coffee will taste!
